How to Write a Job Description That Attracts the Right Candidates

July 1, 2026

Most Bangalore employers lose good candidates in the first paragraph. Here is how to fix it.

The Problem With Most Job Descriptions

You have 30 seconds before a good candidate moves on. Most job descriptions waste those 30 seconds on internal org charts and acronyms that mean nothing to an outsider.

What to Lead With

Start with the role's impact, not its requirements. Instead of "We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 5+ years of experience," try: "You will own the payments infrastructure for 200,000 active users across India."

That sentence signals scale, ownership, and relevance to someone in Bangalore's tech scene.

The Salary Question

Bangalore candidates expect to see a salary range. If you hide it, your top applicants assume you are below market. Show the range: it filters for fit and signals confidence.

Skills vs Requirements

Separate must-haves from nice-to-haves. A wall of 15 requirements tells the candidate you do not know what the job actually is. Pick the 4-5 that are genuinely non-negotiable.

One CTA, Not Three

End with one clear action: apply here, email this address, or submit through the portal. Do not offer three options.
